Time and memory are important elements in my work. My 2014 work concentrated on death and mortality. Humor returned in 2015. Maturity (2015), drolly illustrates my twenty-something son’s changing taste in pizza, perhaps revealing his growth. Present Moment (2015) juxtaposes this son’s messy room with various New Age type quotes about the value of living in the present moment. Observations of the passage of time and deterioration of everyday objects are primary in much of my work, including the four recipe box pieces and the three pieces about hangers found in closets formerly used by family members. As is my practice, this work places my experiences in a larger social context. With gentle humor, American societal contradictions are examined.
