I originally intended the book to be about her last year of life. While working on the book, I realized that to concentrate only on her illnesses would be deficient. In order to understand her last year, the viewer needs to be familiar with her whole life. The book became a distillation of her experiences. In this book, my mother’s life is seen in a social context. Implicitly the viewer recognizes the common themes in my mother’s life with those of many other women. In the book, I am both a narrator and a participant.

The original is an artist’s book, produced on photo quality ink jet paper. 7 x 8 x 1 inches, 27 pages.
